When I was growing up, I pretty much lived at the library. Books were my best friends. I had a summer job shelving books at a local library one year, in exchange for service hours. After high school, my first paying job was at my university library. So naturally, I was excited the find out that the heroine of Wonderland Creek by Lynn Austin is a librarian.
I loved the character of Alice–she is so much like me! She becomes immersed in the story when she reads; I can definitely identify with that. But she is in the need of a wake-up call; Acorn is the perfect place to give her that. The way that Lynn handles her transformation is flawless. I really saw her character develop throughout the book. It was also enjoyable getting to know the other characters; the different residents of the town were very interesting!
Wonderland Creek is a great book full of heart and intrigue. If you have ever dreamed of becoming a librarian, you should read it. You can find it on Amazon.com
